"Jesus built my hotrod, it's a love affair."
I'm back from the two most amazing concerts ever! It all began on April 18th at Pops in Sauget, IL.
April 18th - Ministry
After we arrived, there was a sign posted saying that Nothingface had dropped off the tour. However, not many found this much of a loss -- they were all there for a different reason.
The first band to take the stage was Motograter; not a bad band at all, they got the energy flowing. In my opinion, decking themselves out in full bodied black and white makeup was a mistake, but to each their own. The pumped out some intense tunes and all in all had a good setup.
The second was Lollypop Lust Kill. I think this is the band that replaced Nothingface when they dropped off the tour. LLK was extremely entertaining and talented, with a handful of originals and a very nice redition of 'Personal Jesus'.

Then finally, the moment everyone was waiting for, Ministry took the stage. They played just about every song the crowd could have wanted; Stigmata, Psalm 69, New World Order just to name a few. If only they would have done Jesus Built my Hotrod could they have been better. Besides a stiff neck and partial deafness, I was able to take home a nice small blue towel that was thrown at me from one of the guys from LLK.
April 19 - The United Tour
After driving home for an hour and a half, I was able to sleep for about 9 hours before waking up to go right back to the St. Louis area the next day for the other concert. This one happened at The Galaxy, which may look like shit on the inside, but has the best acoustics I've ever heard in a small club.
This night kicked off with Tubring -- a very original and entertaining group that boasts metal with a nice chunk of analog synthesis.
Soon after came Bile; a good band for heavy metal fans, but they lacked a live drummer. They got a fan in me for the simple fact they cranked out a nice metal cover of "Love Stinks" in the middle of their show. They only stayed up for about 4 or 5 songs then left; kinda strange I thought. Oh well, it made room for a longer set for Zeromancer!

It was Zeromancer's turn. This band rocked the place. Starting out with one of my favorites "Need You Like a Drug" and moving on to the more popular ones like "Dr. Online" and "Send me an Angel". There was no other way to describe this band besides Flawless. They had the crowd going from start to finish and begging for more. After their 7 song set, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult took the stage.
Kicking their's off with "A Daisy Chain for Satan" was everything I wanted from them. Groovie Mann was quite messed up
Thrill Kill Kult, my heros |
 | (I couldn't even begin to think what drugs he was on) but still provided a badass show. There was only 3 members on stage, as Charles Levi -- The bassist -- would be on later :) Most of the songs they played were the newer ones I believe, as I only recognized "A Daisy Chain for Satan" and "Sexplosion", and those two were remixed in an even more dance type mood. Last but not least, after taking a painfully long time setting up, Pigface was standing right in front of me.

Martin Atkins of Pigface |

With Curse Mackie, Chris Connoly, MARTIN ATKINS, Charles Levi (from TKK) and many others, their stage show was just as insane as everyone wanted.
Giving the audience both eye and ear candy, they played personal favorites such as "Insect/Suspect" "Piledriver" and "Closer to Heaven". The insanity, mixed with Pigface's signature stage show, and of course, Martin Atkins on drums, provided the best concert I've yet seen. At the closing of it all, they brought back Groovie Mann from TKK,
Noralf from Zeromancer, and the lead singer from Bile, as well as the girls, and finished with "Suck". During the chorus, lucky front row/second row people got
to take hold of the mics to yell the trademarked "Suck, Suck, Suck" along with the band.
After the left the stage, you could see it in everyone's eyes. Just feeling of shock from such an amazing concert. Upon leaving I glanced over to my suprise to see Kim from Zeromancer sitting at one of the tables. He was more than happy to give me his autograph and make small talk. After a quick handshake and goodbye, I was off.
